Good morning Oppo! Cincinnati/NKY got what I would call the first “serious” snow of the year. Which means making my normal 35 minute commute to work roughly an hour and 15 minutes. This is also my first winter with the Speed6, and I am loving every minute of it. In preperation for winter, I installed some CorkSport mudflaps cause rallycar! They definitely aren’t as big as the RallyArmor mudflaps, but they really help keep dirt/salt off the car.

Now, coming from a 97 auto corolla that was light on its feat and didnt have any driver assists, this thing is light-years ahead of that. I will definitely miss how tail happy the corolla is. But the MS6 handled the 1-2 inches on the road this morning like a champ! (After turning off the DSC of course.) I really couldn’t get the rear to break loose at all.

Now as this is my first car that I “own”, and plan to keep and play with for a while. I need new tires... bad. The current Continental Extremecontact DWS’s in the front are pretty close to the end of their life (backs are newer). I plan on getting dedicated summer/winter tires next year, as this year it just wasn’t in the budget. Im getting married in 3 months and just signed the contract on house.

With that Oppo, I pose the question. What is the best all-season tires that you have used. Just taking a quick peek on TireRack, the top three choices for A/S tires are the BF G-Force Comp-2 A/S, and both the Conti EC DWS 06/Conti EC DWS (what I currently have on the car. The BFG’s are the cheapest price of the 3 at ~$120/tire.

Any thoughts or Oppo-pinions would be great!

buy used if your on a budget. my summer tires were 350 for like new pilot super sports and my winters for 250 for blizzaks. new tires are crazy expensive and you wont get a good tire for under 200 a piece

I bought a set of Westlake Frostextreme winters and had them studded (I travel as a mobile automotive technographer) And they do the trick. they are entry level snow and ice tires, not nearly as good as the hankook ipikes on my Yota. The compromise seems to be that the ultra-soft compound is loud as hell (they sing on the highway) and they have a noticeable penalty to fuel economy, like 10% or more but totally worth not crashing.

According to that thumbnail, you should buy whatever tires those guys are running because they are AMAZING.

Fair enough! That was the initial thought. But trying to find a used set of wheels/tires for summer has been a pain. The plan was to put winter tires on the stock rims, but being 18 x 7 with a 215/45 it will be hard to find a used set of blizzaks unless i pick up some steelies.

Those tires must be pretty sticky to drive vertically... haha

Don't bother with all seasons. Just buy the winters now (used is best for budget, but new are not really that expensive). And then wait until the budget allows for buying your summers. Since winter will still be another couple of months, you have time anyways. Unless you plan to use a set of A/S as your "winters" since snow might be rather infrequent where you live. Then I would recommend Cooper tires, I think they make a good A/S for the money.

I have the A/S tires are the BF G-Force Comp-2 A/S on my WRX. They were great in the 2-3 inches of snow we had last night. They have been great in the wet and dry. I have about 1250 miles on them.

I highly suggest Hankook Winter I*Pike’s for winters.
They are relatively cheap, and they work in all snow weather conditions, on ice and in slush.

I used them when I lived here on all my cars, and one Jeep.

This is what I like to hear! Thanks for the input. I can probably still coax out another 1000 miles on the front tires. If we keep getting snow in the NKY/Cincinnati area I may not... But the BFG Gforce A/S looked like a good tire for the price
